2. Panel: Same-Sex Marriage & the Law - Wednesday, March 16, 6-7 pm
Next Wednesday, 3/16 from 6-7 pm, Lambda Law and the GW Law Democrats are co-sponsoring at a panel discussion about the Perry v. Schwarzenegger (the Prop 8 case), and the recent decision by DOJ to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). The location is the Tasher Great Reading Room on the 1st Floor of the library. The panel will be moderated by Professor Jeffrey Rosen, and will feature Professor Nan Hunter of Georgetown Law School and Brian Moulton, Chief Legislative Counsel for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Food will be served! See the attached flyer for additional information. Special thanks to Reese Davidson for helping plan this panel!

3. Mock Mooting for 1L Oral Arguments - Saturday 3/19
On Saturday, March 19, from 12-4 pm, Lambda will host a mock mooting session for the upcoming 1L oral arguments. 1Ls can come and practice their arguments in front of 2, 3, and 4Ls. 1Ls are also welcome to observe others make their arguments to see how people are responding. There's no need to come for the whole time - just as long as you want/can. To upper-level members, we need volunteers to help moot the 1Ls. If you can make it, email Bridget (bkgeraghty@gmail.com) letting her what times you will be available. This will be invaluable practice for the 1Ls, so PLEASE volunteer if you can.

4. DC LGBTQ Networking Night 3/23

Don't miss this one-of-a-kind event with former Congressman Patrick Murphy (who helped lead the fight for repeal of DADT), dozens of employers, and LGBTQ and allied law students from all around the area. There's free food and drink, networking aplenty, and celebrations of who we are and what we do. This is an incredible way to make connections that will have a direct and positive impact on your career!

Join us on March 23 at 7pm in the Kelly Lounge. There's no need to bring anything but yourself -- in smart, professional attire -- for this wonderful event.

RSVP: email eeculbertson@law.gwu.edu with Lambda RSVP in the subject line by March 18. Include your school and year. After Spring break, spaces will be open to students from other schools and non-Lambda students- reserve your space ASAP!

5. Second Spring Semester General Body Meeting and Elections!
We will have our second spring semester general body meeting on Monday, March 28 at 8 pm. One thing we will discuss at the meeting is elections for next year. Each of the executive board members will give a brief overview of our duties. Everyone - including 1Ls - should start thinking about whether they would be interested in running for a position next year. Statements of interest will be due the following Wednesday, March 30 by 9 pm (email to Bridget) and voting will begin after that on TWEN. In advance of the meeting, feel free to contact any of the current executive board members if you have any questions.

6. Transnational LGBT Human Rights event with Sandra Moran 3/28
Lambda is co-sponsoring this wonderful speaker with the Human Rights Law Society on March 28. Sandra Moran is an activist for female prisoners and their families, leader in Guatemalan feminist organizations and in the local LGBT community. Further details to come, but please save the date!

7. Lambda Blood Drive 3/29
Lambda's second annual blood drive will be March 29 in the leather lounge from 10-5. For those of you new to the community, Lambda hosts a blood drive to raise awareness of the FDA's ban on blood donations from men who have had sex with men, despite the fact that the Red Cross opposes such a ban. We will have an information table set up, and will be asking for volunteers in upcoming emails. Save the date! Questions? Email Mike Porcello
